It doesn't matter what's on your back, you'll always be number 1 to me

I sat there fairly certain my jeans were frozen to the bleacher beneath me, but I wasn't budging. There he was on third base, and my heart was still racing from cheering until my throat was hoarse. But this was more than a triple at an opportune time in the game. This is what it means to work, wait and suffer. It all made it worth it in that one swing. Now he's not one to brag or boast, in fact at the moment if you asked him he'd tell you that he has a terrible bating average with a 2 for 7.

But don't let that fool you. I thought I'd take a few seconds and make sure the entire universe knew that I got to see his first Varsity at bat and man was it worth it. So the next time I'm putting leggings on under my jeans, and three shirts beneath a giant hoodie, someone pinch me to remind me it's real. Sometimes dreams come true, and his was always so simple. He's going to go onto the number one analytical chemistry program in the country, but his answer to one question will always be the same.

"What do you wanna be Bran?"
"A ball player."

He's been a ball player his entire life, but sometimes it's nice to be seen that way by everyone in the stadium.
