Big Girl Wish List

Having now moved into the actual apartment there have been things popping up in my "longing for list!" so here they are, big and small I figured I'd let myself fantasize before I buckle down with the Book of the Year for incoming Freshmen at UT and then up early for a morning run and lift. Toodles!

  • Blender- I'd settle for a bullet, but I know that having one of these requires me to not only purchase frozen fruit but figure out a recipe I enjoy.

  • Knife set- There seems to be a disagreement within the department regarding how long the knifes can be within our campus dwelling but I am under the impression that an actual set of knifes would be allowed.
  • small egg pan- Okay so I've been on a kick lately of scrambled eggs with cheese. I've been tempted to try eggs over easy but I always get nervous the last second and scramble them up... Maybe tomorrow I'll try to let them sit. I'm not confident they will make it, and I'd hate to ruin my breakfast. (For some reason it won't insert it in the proper place)

  • Curtains for the living room- So I haven't ever really had to purchase curtains so I’m still debating on ones for above the couch but I am open to suggestions of a color scheme that would work well with the lovely blues of the carpet and couch that were pre-selected for me.

  • Pink Kitchenaid mixer- Mmm this one is a bit of a whim as they cost millions of dollars and I am as timid as a mouse in the kitchen, but I saw a beautiful pink Kitchenaid mixer and I think it would be lovely to own. A girl can dream! (PS up until 2 seconds ago I thought it was kitchenMaid, if that tells you a little bit about my background of kitchen appliances.

  • Cutting board- Now I don't need a full bamboo or anything fancy peice of slab to cut my meat on but I should probably do away with the small plastic thing I call my current cutting board. It's been demorphed in the microwave one too many times. I promise not to put a nice one in the micro.
  • Welcome Mat- Perhaps another frivious item but one that I would adore non-the less! Maybe one of those sweet saying mats for right by the front door. Now granted I can't actually put it outside my door because I live in a residence hall and I remember what we did to people's welcome mat's who were silly enough to leave them outside the front door, but it's a nice grown up item I'd still like to own.

  • New mac os system- Grrr. I may have already mentioned this before in previous posts but I am trapped by the apple company and sooner than later going to have to give in. My mac book is from 2007 and while it is running perfectly the sneaky folks at apple have figured out that their products last for a long time and have come up with an evil plan. I now have to buy a 300 dollar mac system and have it installed on my computer before I can get any new updates to iTunes, skype, Word and pretty much all programs that make my computer functional. Annoying to say the least.

Bedazzled Gym Clothes?

So sorry I've been MIA. This whole week has brushed past in a whirlwind and included long days of training, learning a whole lot about the job I took on, AND moving to a new location. I was lucky enough to have one of my girlfriends come up from North Carolina and hang for the weekend. We moved everything up a floor, organized both my room and my office and discovered a new show we love, Hot In Cleveland!

Betty White's (ELKA) bedazzler has inspired me to want a different colored track suit for each day of the week ;)

But anywho the move was successful and I plan on spending my last free day working out, dancing around the apartment and hopefully finding season two. Sorry I've been away but I swear I've thought of everyone and haven't fallen off the wagon again.
(Not me!)

Quick Update

Good Morning,
I had every intention of writing on here yesterday but instead got caught up in my first day of training and then some evening events that weren't exactly planned (including a office chat, and an expensive Walmart trip for food). Anywho here are some photos of what I wore yesterday and what I'm going to WOW them with today!

My little bros requested a shot of my fanciful office so tada here it is!
Sorry it's a little blurry, me and the iPhone Cam are still becoming friends.

I have a wish list going of stuff that I'd love to have for my apartment, and while the first night was extreemly lonely, last night was easier. I will have to find time today to hit the gym as 645 just came too early. I promise more to come soon, along with pictures of the new pad. Thanks for being patient!

Big Girl Pants

Here I am, writing to you all about to spend my first night alone in my new apartment.  I have been to my first social event, where I successfully brought and cut a pineapple (I'm Becki and I brought Pineapple because I'm from Hawaii.)

I also attempted a 3 mile run in the middle of the day, and was cut slightly short of my desired distance based on the hilly-ness of the course.

All in all it was a good day. I purchased NetFlix for the moments when I'm feeling really lonely and of course have already aquanited myself with the local shopping for retail therapy. I believe it is safe to say I have successfully packed my big girl pants, and while right now I may be wearing my fluffy pj pants it's safe to say I think tomorrow will be a great first day on the job!

Seriously?! Thursday

I'm running around like a crazy woman, trying to get everything in order for tomorrow. On top of that I've got two kiddos this afternoon so I won't be doing much work besides playing hide and seek and refereeing the new set of "Thomas the Tank Engine" toys...

So I'm linking up again to From Mrs. to Mamma for Seriously, Thursdays.

Seriously?! Where has the summer gone, I can't believe it's time for me to start my big girl job at big girl grad school.

Seriously?! I will never ever buy another battery from Sam's Club. Instead of a 20 minute fix, I wound up with a 5 hour ordeal that included them breaking a few parts, driving around without being able to turn the car off, and finally having the Sam's mechanic lock my keys in the ignition and have to wait for a locksmith. Do NOT go there!

Seriously?! Having my diamond cleaned totally and completely makes my day better not to mention much sparklier.

Seriously?! I just had a bagel from the local shop down the street and I realized I won't be able to get one of those for quite a while. Fingers and toes crossed there is a good place near campus, or at least a Dunkin'.

Seriously?! I have an addiction to Taylor Swift cards. It started way back when they first came out. The boy and I have exchanged enough for me to have already made two frames, and I only foresee more being formed as we begin our long distance relationship, enhancing it with snail mail. These are the two frames I crafted.

Seriously?! Yesterday I purchased an originally 80 dollar New York and Company white linen adorably summer dress for 18 dollars. And yes the tags were still attached!

Seriously?! Please excuse me if I am absent for a short period of time. The move and the whole change of routines will likely throw me for a short curve ball, but I'll be back on the wagon in no time. Wish much luck! xoxo

What I'm Loving Wednesday

I've been trying really hard to be more active and therefore have stumbled upon lots of different link ups that I'm eager to try.

Head over to This Kind of Love today for

I'm Loving that I am finally getting back into running further than a 5k! Maybe new shoes will continue to inspire me ;)

I'm Loving that I have begun working with a designer to give my blog a makeover, I figured if I'm going to stay on the wagon I may as well love everything I see when I log on. Check her out at Munchkin Land Designs!

I'm Loving that the majority of my bags are packed and hoping that Friday all 15 bins will fit smoothly into 3 cars

I'm Loving that with all the moving and shuffling of things I've donated at least 5 giant bags of clothing and just stuff to charity. That just makes you feel like a better person.

I'm Loving that my baby twin brothers are about to get their driving permits. They are finishing their last drive with an instructor today, and I'll admit while I was first sad to see them grow up, I'm so glad I have gotten to be home for this!

I'm Loving that while I still haven't been able to find a venue, I have been in contact with a vendor who's ideas (and prices) are perfect.

What are you in love with today?

T-Minus 3 days

In three days I will be uprooted from the lovely bubble my small undergrad institution has given me, along with the simplicity, convenience (and never feeling alone) of being two steps away from my boyfriend (now fiancĂ©) best friends, and sisters. I have been fairly melancholy about the move to my new apartment on campus at University of Tennessee because when you compare a four hour move, to a 12 hour plane ride from Hawaii to the deep fried south... well they really aren't comparable.

But alas I am getting a bit anxious... I think I've talked myself into my big girl shoes and hopefully it will be a easy transition.

Stay tuned. I'll be managing a 16 floor building of sorority women (including being on duty through the nights both for my building and the area), starting grad classes, and commuting 5 hours whenever I want to see my fiancĂ©,  so I'm sure there will be stories, struggles and smiles!

The Yellow Bathroom Under the Stairs

Mmmk so in case any of you aren't familiar with the Bed and Breakfast that my family decided to purchase when they MOVED all the way from Hawaii four short years ago, it was built in 1888, and comes equipped with two living rooms, a formal dining room, owners quarters, four guest bed rooms, one creepy attic (that's where I reside when home) and a yellow bathroom under the stairs.

This bathroom has a perpetual smell. We keep the door closed at all times and when you in there it feels literally like you are Harry Potter trapped underneath the stairs.

Here's Harry...
And here's our bathroom... Similar eh? Just minus the toilet and add a bed.

My mom has tried to spruce it up with yellow and brown accent colors but there is not fake floral that is going to disguise the disgusting sink that slants the right, and that smell. There is something just so creepy, with the slanted down ceilings and the fading wallpaper. I hope that whoever buys this house (it's been for sale for over a year) will find some repellant that creates a better atmosphere for that yellow room. As it stands I'd almost feel bad for the little room, if I wasn't so worried about holding my breath every time all the other restrooms are full.

My Happy List

Photobucket

Check out this awesome blog I found, not only does she do great give aways but she always has something new going on!

I am HAPPY that I got to spend the week in Charlotte, even though I didn't get to see my fiance as often as I would have liked.

I am THRILLED that my fiance finally got a new car, his '95 Mustang needed to be retired two years ago, and I am not ashamed to say I kicked it at the top of the driveway when it was parked for it's final time.

I am HAPPY that I will be moving into my new apartment and have a new routine and answers to my many questions in less than a week.

I am HAPPY that I got some pre-work over with and don't have to have a webinar and StrenghtsQuest hanging over my head as I get ready to go to UT.

There are many more things I'm happy about, but for right now I'm HAPPY that my fiance finally woke up (I'm a morning bird, he's a night owl)

Moms and Bikinis don't really mix

I have found myself at the residential pool of the little one I'm watching observing other families, specifically mothers who bring thir offspring to wear out their energy for minimal costs. Across the pool I spot a family of 4, 3 girls and a mother. I'm not sure what came over her when she was getting dressed but she's in a STRING bikini. I'm not saying she's out of shape or anything along those lines but for all practical reasons who wears that to swim with your kids!

I'm 21 and kidless and consider anything with strings and strapless simply tasteless and un-functional when hanging with those under 4 feet. Perhaps I haven't yet hit the years when tanning time is limited to the hours spent referreeing wild ones at the community pool, but from my opinionated opinion I dont need to see all the clevage and butt crack of a mother.
